On this day September 7, 1868 the third death occurs in the Thorsted family.
The mother Ane Kristine Jensen Thorsted dies from Typhoid she caught on board the Emerald Isle. She was buried in the New York City cemetery possibly on Ward’s Island where the hospital was. Ane was born, May 11, 1824 in Snedsted, Denmark, she married Jens Pedersen Thorsted in 1843. They had twelve children, two died in infancy, two died before her at the hospital in New York and three more afterwards. Ane had many siblings who also died early, many of her half-siblings also emigrated to Utah. Ane joined the Mormon church in 1861, seven years before trying to bring her family to Utah.
